DOL submits its overtime final rule for approval
The U.S. Department of Labor sent its overtime final rule to the Office of Management and Budget for approval. This is well ahead of the late-summer/early fall deadline that originally was announced. At this rate, the rules could be finalized by the end of April and take effect 60 to 90 days after that. As a reminder, these rules raise the threshold of an exempt employee to $50,440/year.
Menu labeling enforcement delayed, again
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the enforcement date for menu-labeling, which was supposed to have been December 1, 2016, has been delayed to one year after final regulations are released. (Final regulations have not yet been released.)
