Good legislation begins with good lawmakers. PRLA’s political action committee and Advocacy funds are used to fight on your behalf to limit government interference in your business and protect your bottom line. PRLA’s PAC and Advocacy Fund promote political involvement through the education and financial support of political candidates whose policies align with industry goals. Make Your Voice Heard
Political decisions can directly impact you, your business, and your bottom line. Your donations to PAC and Advocacy Fund go a long way toward securing an even stronger voice for your industry in the future.
What is PAC?
The PRLA political action committee (PAC) fund raises money through personal contributions from individuals from our industry. This money is used to support political candidates who appreciate the importance of the hospitality and tourism industry, understand its legislative priorities, and are sensitive to the challenges facing the industry.
The PAC fund, in conjunction with the Advocacy Fund, help PRLA advance our legislative priorities, like tourism funding, preemption of employer mandates, alcohol reform, minimum wage and across-the-bar taxes.
Where does my PAC donation go?
The majority of your donations to the PRLA PAC go towards the election campaigns of elected officials, primarily at the state level. We collaborate with the AHLA and NRA and their PACs to support elected officials at the federal level. The association will work with the local chapters to potentially support local officials, especially in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, in the future.
PRLA PAC donations generally go towards the general funds of campaigns for both parties of the Pennsylvania House and Senate, as well as House and Senate leadership and the committee chairs of the committees key to PRLA.
Cost of Events
A well-funded PAC is critically important when you consider the average House member’s fundraiser starts at $250 and the Senate member’s fundraiser start at $500.

What is the Advocacy Fund?
PRLA’s Advocacy Fund raises money through individual and corporate contributions to support the association’s government affairs education efforts and lobbying contracts.
The funds work in conjunction with PAC funds to help PRLA achieve our legislative priorities, such as tourism funding, preemption of employer mandates, alcohol reform, minimum wage, and across-the-bar taxes.
Where does my donation to Advocacy Fund go?
Donations to the PRLA Advocacy Fund are used to support the association’s government affairs department, such as bill tracking and news services, pay for our lobby disclosure registrations and pay for our lobbying contracts and educational outreach to lawmakers.
A healthy Advocacy Fund is important to the association’s overall advocacy goals.
